Our 90’ x 45’ silage pit is designed to do exactly what you need it to: protect your silage, minimise waste at the silage face, and reduce dirty water run-off.

We’ve allowed for a standard height and width that offers both cost efficiency and proven performance in agricultural settings. If your setup requires additional height depending on plant or equipment, we’re happy to provide a customised quotation to suit your needs.

As a guide, this pit capacity will typically hold 750+ tonnes of high-quality silage.


SPECIFICATION

STEELWORK:

To supply for erection on prepared site and concrete foundations, steel portal frame 4.572m (15`) centres with 356 x 171 x 45kg UB stanchions with web stiffeners and 254 x 146 x 31kg UB rafters with rafter stays.

One gable frame to have 2 No. 356 x 171 x 45kg UB intermediate sub stanchions. Other gable frame to have 2 No. 178 x 102 x 19kg UB gable hangers, including CHS rafter and side bracing to both end bays, complete with CHS eaves ties.

All steelwork to be shotblasted and painted with a red semi oxide finish.

PURLINS:

To supply 175 x 75 graded tanalised timber purlins bolted to frame at 1.375m centres. Eaves beam to be 225 x 75 C16 graded tanalised timber.

ROOF CLADDING:

To supply Profile 6 reinforced corrugated natural grey fibre cement sheets. Ridge to be alternating close fitting and ventilating crown cranked. Verges to be finished with fibre cement barge boards.

ROOF LIGHTS:

Not Required.

RAINWATER GOODS:

Eaves gutter to be 160 on the side with 2 No. 110mm Ø UPVC downpipes to each side. All gutters to be UPVC with rubber sealed joints fixed to eaves beams with UPVC brackets at 1m intervals and UPVC down-pipe clips to stanchions.

END CLADDING:

One gable end to be clad down to eaves level. Other gable end to be clad down to 4.115m (13’6’’) below eaves level, both with 150 x 22 graded tanalised Yorkshire boarding on 125 x 75 graded tanalised timber sheeting rails.

SIDE CLADDING:

Both sides to be clad down to 4.115m (13’6’’) below eaves level, with 150 x 22 graded tanalised Yorkshire boarding on 125 x 75 graded tanalised timber sheeting rails.

DOORS:

Not Required.

CONCRETE PANELS:

To supply 140mm thick x 3.000m high concrete wall panels to one end and both sides, including panel lifters.
