Silage Clamps & Middens

Home | Agricultural buildings | Silage Clamps & Middens

As feed costs and oil prices continue to rise, many farmers see the value in investing in covered silage pits.

Robinsons can quote for a simple self-erect kit through to a full turnkey package, including project management and erection. We can offer solutions to ensure you have optimum height, storage and face size.

More local authorities are looking for farmers to reduce the amount of “dirty” water on farms, we can help you to achieve these goals. Another area of wastewater can be reduced by covering existing Middens. We can provide quotations to supply and erect roofs over existing yard areas.

New amendments to the rules around how farms manage and store silage and slurry were introduced on 1st January 2022 with the aim of protecting the environment and helping to make better use of nutrients produced on farms. New regulations now require your proposal to be submitted for approval 30 days before starting the build in line with GBR 31 – Silage silos. Farming and Water Scotland have released their new adherence guide which can be found here.

We can assist you with your site plans, design drawings, recommendations on prefabricated products and engineering solutions to support your proposal to SEPA or the environment agency.
