Scaling Up: A Closer Look at Our Latest Custom Steel Building

Home | News | Scaling Up: A Closer Look at Our Latest Custom Steel Building

There’s nothing quite like the progress phase of a build to show the true scale of what we do.

We’ve been back on-site recently at one of our local projects, and as this structure starts to come together, you can really see the benefits of choosing a custom steel building for large-scale operations.

At 260ft long and 136ft wide, this isn’t just a standard shed. It’s a precision-engineered space designed for serious durability.

Built to Last: The Structural Backbone

When investing in a custom steel building, longevity is the name of the game.

For this project, we utilised a hot-dipped galvanised steel framework. Galvanising the steel provides a massive leap in lifespan, protecting the structure from rust and wear, which is essential for a building of this size and importance.

The Project Specifications:

  • Dimensions: A massive 260ft length with a 136ft width.
  • Height & Pitch: 14ft eaves height with a 17° roof pitch for efficient drainage and interior volume.
  • Natural Light: We’ve incorporated 280 roof lights using Heatguard 50 clear panels, ensuring the interior is flooded with natural light to keep energy costs down.

Tailored for Innovation

What makes a custom steel building so effective is the ability to add specific functional extensions. This build includes:

  1. Monopitch Gable Extensions: Two extensions specifically designed for the robot end of the facility.
  2. Specialised Cladding: A mix of fibre cement roof cladding for the lean-tos and vent-air steel sheets on the gable ends to ensure perfect ventilation.
  3. Secure Access: Five remote-operated roller shutter doors and multiple sheeted gates for seamless workflow and security.

Precision and Safety on Site

As the roof installation continues, our team is working with safety netting and edge protection firmly in place.

Seeing the transition from raw steel to a functional, enclosed space is a proud moment for the Robinsons and CWP teams.

We don’t just put up a building. We deliver a tailored environment that’s built to work as hard as our clients do.
