Silage Pit

Location: South West Scotland
Home | Silage Pit
Type of building: Agricultural, Silage Pit

Supplying and erecting a 200′ long x 80′ wide silage pit for our customer.

Project Details

Our customer approached our knowledgeable team enquiring about a new silage pit for their farm. The customer provided us with the dimensions to suit their land and requested that the silage pit be split into two 40′ wide pits. Our team where then able to advise what their suggestions would be.

Between the customer and our team, it was decided that we would assist with the site clearance and forming of the necessary banking. T walls from Concrete Wall Panels would be used to separate the silage pit into appropriately sized pits, we would also lay the concrete base which would be 150mm thick.

After the confirmation was created and the materials were supplied our erecting team were able to commence the work, they, first of all, started to clear the site and create the banking for the customer, this enables all of the work to be completed by us instead of the customer having to liaise with other contractors. Our erecting team then created a foundation for the T walls to sit in ready for installation, the 150mm thick concrete base floor was then laid using a 36mm pump putting an A252 mesh and a layer of DPM below the concrete. The team could then install the T walls and excavate the earth banks.
