Farm Safety Week 2026: It’s About People

From 20th to 24th July, the agricultural industry is coming together once again to support Farm Safety Week, an annual campaign led by the Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies) to raise awareness of safety across UK and Irish farms.

This year’s campaign focuses on a simple but powerful message: it’s about people.

Every year, Farm Safety Week encourages farmers, contractors, businesses and rural communities to take a step back and think about the everyday decisions that help keep people safe.

While farming remains one of the UK’s highest-risk industries, the campaign reminds us that accidents don’t just affect statistics.

Behind every incident is a person, a family, a business and a community whose lives can be changed in an instant.

This year’s theme shines a light on the long-term impact of serious injuries, encouraging conversations that go beyond the headline figures.

Whether you’re driving machinery, handling livestock, working at height or carrying out routine maintenance, taking a few extra moments to assess the risks can make all the difference.

Simple actions such as maintaining machinery, wearing the correct PPE, keeping children away from working areas, planning jobs properly and avoiding shortcuts all play an important role in preventing accidents.

Farm Safety Week also highlights that creating a safer industry is a shared responsibility.

Employers, employees, contractors, family members and visitors all have a part to play in making farms safer places to live, work and visit.

The campaign runs throughout the week with daily themes covering the impact of serious injuries, emergency response, practical actions we can all take and celebrating those who champion safety within the industry.
