Dumfries and Galloway Businesses Unite

Lockerbie based manufacturing and construction company Robinsons has set up a support network for businesses local to Dumfries & Galloway on Facebook. The ‘D&G Business Support Network’ is there to provide some assurance and up-to-date information to local businesses.

The current coronavirus situation in the UK is causing severe implications for businesses in our local area.   Although we have no confirmed cases in Dumfries and Galloway, people are being advised to socially distance themselves, work from home and cancel any non-essential plans.  We all want to protect ourselves, our families and our employee’s health but businesses do need a flow of customers in order to survive and ride out the economic uncertainty.

Businesses, not just in Dumfries & Galloway or the UK – but worldwide, are having to deal with a lack of custom, contracts being put on hold and the lack of ability to physically do business, which in return means loss of income and a cut back on all resources including subcontractors and staffing.

As a company, Robinsons felt there should be a network available for businesses to confidently express their worries, anxieties and hopefully share ideas, new guidance and government support packages as they become available.

Within an hour 250 businesses joined the network and it is continuing to thrive with active conversations and businesses genuinely coming together to show each other support, from hairdressers, retailers, to publicans, trades and everything in between. The feedback from members has been amazing and we hope that this network allows business owners and managers to feel less isolated as they try their best both their business, customers and employees to get through this social and economic uncertainty.
