Sheep Husbandry Centre

Location: Newton Rigg College, Penrith
Type of building: Sheep Husbandry Centre

A shed built for multiple purposes!

We were approached by Newton Rigg to create a suitable teaching area for their students with a new sheep husbandry centre, the main purpose for this was to provide an all year round teaching area for college students, providing somewhere they could observe and learn hands on. It also allows teaching to be focused on all lambing operations that happen throughout the college. As well as having space for lambing they also required an area that was suitable for sheep shearing and general sheep husbandry, again providing students with a hands on learning opportunity. The brief was to make a cost effective shed yet it needed to also exceed the clients expectations on quality and function.

The project also included full demolition of a previous existing building as well as the preparation for the site and full concrete works. As well as supplying all the shed materials our skilled team of erectors also built the shed and our partners FarmFit supplied all the internals.

As well as supplying Newton Rigg with their new shed we also assisted with general improvements to their farmland including upgrading a silage clamp allowing it to be used as a lambing centre.
