Trainee Quality Supervisor

Location: Lockerbie
Reporting to: Managing Director
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, Depending on Experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am-3.30pm

We are seeking a detail-oriented trainee quality supervisor to join our team. As the trainee quality supervisor you will be responsible for performing inspections, testing on structural steel components and welds to ensure the safety of the materials and structures we produce. This role is vital to maintain our high standards of quality control and ensuring compliance with the industry regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform NDT inspections on structural steelwork and welded joints using methods such as magnetic particle testing (MPI) and visual inspections (VT).
  • Interpret and evaluate test results to determine the quality of materials and welds.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports and documentation, ensuring compliance with company standard and industry codes.
  • Identify and report any defects, non conformances or discrepancies found during inspections to the relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with production team to ensure that testing and inspections are complete within project schedules.
  • Pro-active in staying updated with industry standards, codes and best practices related to NDT and structural steelwork.
  • Conduct dimensional checks prior to welding procedure.

Person Specification:

  • Experience relevant to role, preferably within a structural steel or fabrication environment. However, training will be provided.
  • Basic knowledge of welding procedures and and welding inspection techniques.
  • Relevant experience in software tools for reporting, training will be provided.
  • Work towards Certification in relevant NDT methods.
  • Some knowledge of structural steel codes and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
